Which of these Nikon cameras do you think is a better camera…?

I need a new camera and I think I have settled on a Nikon Coolpix but I’m trying to figure out which would fit my needs better. . . can you guys help me out? I want to get something that will help me learn how to use some of the features of a DSLR without getting one. . . Do you follow me? I think that I have narrowed it down to the Coolpix L110 or the P100. I have a HP P&S that is similar to what they offer and after almost 11,000 pictures and 6 years later the camera is on it’s deathbed, but I’m not sure which is the better camera for my needs. I take pictures of animals, aircraft, landscapes, NYC (when I’m there), sports. I don’t do a lot of people pics, I barely have any pics of freinds and family cause I don’t like taking pics of people. They annoy me so that isn’t really much of an issue for me. Here is a sample of my photos, I just want something that I can do similar quality or better quality pictures with.
