Demo of the first Apple Macintosh by Steve Jobs, January 1984, in front of 3000 people. Andy Hertzfeld captured the moment quite well in his retelling: “Pandemonium reigns as the demo completes. Steve has the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face, obviously holding back tears as he is overwhelmed by the moment. The ovation continues for at least five minutes before he quiets the crowd down.”

He looked a lot better with hair and before cancer.
It is amazing how far Apple has come.

@blckblt121 actually, it was 1984. by 1994 computers were far more complex than this. the next station was, IMO, the jewel back then.
stephen colbert did a similar thing recently when presenting the awards.
@wichrau possibly, but back then they were pretty darn great computers with really advanced -graphical- software which was uncommon on other platforms
i love the flopy in the pocket
i’d be standing and clapping to!

True enough. It was my first computer as well.
So, everyone is cheering, clapping, cheering and standing.
What percentage of the crowd do you think were Apple employees?
Anyone ever work for a corporation before?
i think the mac speech is cool, i want that on my computer so i can scare people with it. kinda sounds like the old voice that was on the atlanta airport concourse train. anyone who was in the ATL airport before 93 will know what im talking about

Wow, Steve Jobs used to be hot.
My first computer ever. I really wish they had made it completely mute. It made the creepiest noises while it ran.
The voice of Trogdor.
yeah it’s so stupid what you can do with mac’s these days lol
bigdumboaf. 21. . . . honestly have you used hot corners? Nothing windows has compares to the efficiency of hot corners.
I used to hate macs. . . mainly because the price and I couldn’t get hacked software as easy. But my career forced me to make the switch and now I cant believe I ever lived without it.
